Adam & Audra // Engagement Photography

Ok, so I get excited about all of the engagement and weddings that I photograph, but this one I am even more excited about! Audra and Adam are so great and I love their vision for their wedding coming up this winter. I am not going to ruin any surprises, you will have to stay tuned for that. but the following images from their engagement session will give you a hint as to how fun this couple really is. When Audra first contacted me about doing an engagement shoot at Carver Park, I was excited. But then she said they wanted to go double slalom water skiing as part of the session and have me photograph from the boat- I was pumped!! How fun is that?! They skied at sunset which created beautiful lighting in the background. Adam (as you will see in the last photograph here) is an AMAZING slalom skier. Together they love being outside and being active. This was the perfect session to show their interests and their relationship. As I said, stay tuned in February to see images from their wedding. I cannot wait. Congratulations Adam and Audra. Thanks for letting me be apart of your adventures!

Greg & Megan // Proposal

My heart swells with joy and happiness when thinking about this couple – Greg and Megan. For Greg is my brother, and as you will see, Megan is someone near and dear to his heart. When going into this surprise session, my own heart was pounding out of my chest, I could hardly breath and my head was in the clouds with anticipation and excitement. Phil and myself were hiding behind trees and bushes at the Lyndale Park Rose Gardens with our cameras and witnessed a love story unfold in front of our eyes. Greg had planned a special evening for Megan which included a picnic in the park, a walk around Lake Harriet and a once in a lifetime question asked at the Rose Gardens which Megan said YES to! I could not be any more happy for them. After they basked in their love for a little while, Phil and I came out from our hiding spaces and Greg pointed us out, a detail that Megan was totally surprised by. We celebrated with them and took more pictures to capture this truly special and beautiful moment in their lives – the beginning of a wonderful journey together. My little brother is grown up and I am so proud of who he has become and I cannot explain how excited I am for Megan to be joining our family. Congratulations Greg and Megan. We love you both so much!

Entering into the experience of a bride. . .

My best friend, Phil, asked me to marry him on December 9th!!! :) I said yes instantly! I smiled so big for the next week straight that my face hurt. Ear to ear I was a little girl in love. I also could not tear my eyes off of the shiny new ring on my finger! (See image below)

I have now entered into the experience of a bride. I have been photographing brides and grooms for a few years now, but it will finally be my turn to put on the white dress and look my love in the eyes as we declare our commitment to each other.

Here are a few pictures from the day of and the day after that we took as a newly engaged couple. It was cold, but wonderful to be standing outside next to my fiance!

This is the Devil’s Punch Bowl in Menomonie Wisconsin. We took a few photos like this and then right after the sun went down and we were about to leave, Phil got down on one knee! (:

We took these photos the day after at Caddy Woodlawn Park (also in Menomonie). You could say it was an engagement session. It will probably be one of many that we do between now and our wedding.

The engagement ring is part of a wedding set. I think it’s perfect.

I am completely curious as to how my photographic style might change after I am in the shoes of the bride. (They will not be the 3 inch tall heals though that some brides wear I can tell you that much though! Ha!) I am very excited to experience a wedding now not by being a bridesmaid, or a guest or the photographer. I wonder if I will see things differently after my own wedding. Will new things become important? Less important? I will soon understand more. I will gain greater incites into my own profession. I’m pumped!

I love you Philip and cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you! PKPK
