Thomas // Senior Portraits

Thomas took a chance with me, and I think it paid off well. Thomas said he was looking for a location that was outdoorsy and by some water. My first instinct here in Hudson is the obvious- Lakefront Park. but I wanted to try something new; to go somewhere I have not photographed before.  I suggested doing his senior portraits at the Boom Site in Stillwater, MN. I had only heard of this location from a friend a while back. Thomas was up for the adventure, so I met him and his mom there. We were all pleasantly surprised. We met on a day that had been raining all morning, but cleared just in time for the session. It was awesome! Thomas is a senior in Woodbury, and is looking to go into computer science and/or music. He is one talented kid, and of the nicest kind. Have a great senior year and best wishes in all you do Thomas!

Lucas & Sarah // Hudson, WI Wedding Photography

Lucas and Sarah tied the knot in one of my favorite places in Hudson – Prospect Park. They planned a simple and beautiful ceremony overlooking the St. Croix River. Some of the trees had already started to change colors which made for the perfect backdrop against the black and white wedding party attire. Sarah was an absolutely stunning bride and the way she looks at Lucas reflects the love they share. Congratulations Lucas and Sarah. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to photograph your wedding ceremony!

Grace // Senior Portraits

Happy Friday everyone! Today I’d like you to meet Grace. She is the younger sister of Emily, and a beautiful individual. We had the perfect summer day at Minnehaha Falls for her senior session. I am thrilled with how her images turned out. Grace picked the perfect outfits that really show her personality and worked great with the variety of backgrounds available at Minnehaha Falls. Grace I hope you have a memorable senior year and best of luck to you in your future.

Adam & Audra // Engagement Photography

Ok, so I get excited about all of the engagement and weddings that I photograph, but this one I am even more excited about! Audra and Adam are so great and I love their vision for their wedding coming up this winter. I am not going to ruin any surprises, you will have to stay tuned for that. but the following images from their engagement session will give you a hint as to how fun this couple really is. When Audra first contacted me about doing an engagement shoot at Carver Park, I was excited. But then she said they wanted to go double slalom water skiing as part of the session and have me photograph from the boat- I was pumped!! How fun is that?! They skied at sunset which created beautiful lighting in the background. Adam (as you will see in the last photograph here) is an AMAZING slalom skier. Together they love being outside and being active. This was the perfect session to show their interests and their relationship. As I said, stay tuned in February to see images from their wedding. I cannot wait. Congratulations Adam and Audra. Thanks for letting me be apart of your adventures!

Nic & Tamara // Wedding Photography

When I think about Nic and Tamara’s wedding, my thoughts race from the weather changing from rain to sun right in time for the ceremony, the perfect Duluth beach backdrop, the sound of the crashing waves, the traditional Thai water blessing, the gorgeous bouquets and flowers, Tamara’s wedding band made by Nic himself, the beautiful decorations at the Duluth Depot, the exceptionally delicious meal and carrot cake among so many other things.

However, the things I think I will remember most are the small moments. Nic’s expression when he sees Tamara for the first time that day. The way Tamara locks eyes with Nic as she is walking down the aisle with her parents, and the countless stolen glances and smiles they share during the ceremony and throughout the night. During the reception, I was talking with Tamara, and Nic interrupts (in a polite way) to tell Tamara how beautiful she looks. The deep felt gratitude they expressed to their family and friends tells so much about the couple. You can tell that the love and respect between them runs deep. They are a truly beautiful couple – inside and out. It was an honor and blessing to witness the unity of these two lovely people. Congratulations Nic and Tamara!

Willie & Jennifer // Onalaska, WI Wedding Photography

The La Crosse/Onalaska area will always feel like home to me, so spending the weekend there to celebrate Jennifer and Willie’s wedding made my heart so happy. The couple planned the perfect day and picked so many awesome locations for photographs! Jennifer’s dad and brothers work for the railroad, so they rented a train-trolley for the morning to shuttle us around Onalaska, La Crosse and La Crescent, MN. It was a beautiful summer day filled with love and laughter, family and friends. Jennifer and Willie are generous, caring and full of life and love. We were honored and blessed to be apart of your special day. We loved celebrating with you- congratulations!!

Greg & Megan // Proposal

My heart swells with joy and happiness when thinking about this couple – Greg and Megan. For Greg is my brother, and as you will see, Megan is someone near and dear to his heart. When going into this surprise session, my own heart was pounding out of my chest, I could hardly breath and my head was in the clouds with anticipation and excitement. Phil and myself were hiding behind trees and bushes at the Lyndale Park Rose Gardens with our cameras and witnessed a love story unfold in front of our eyes. Greg had planned a special evening for Megan which included a picnic in the park, a walk around Lake Harriet and a once in a lifetime question asked at the Rose Gardens which Megan said YES to! I could not be any more happy for them. After they basked in their love for a little while, Phil and I came out from our hiding spaces and Greg pointed us out, a detail that Megan was totally surprised by. We celebrated with them and took more pictures to capture this truly special and beautiful moment in their lives – the beginning of a wonderful journey together. My little brother is grown up and I am so proud of who he has become and I cannot explain how excited I am for Megan to be joining our family. Congratulations Greg and Megan. We love you both so much!

Jude 2 Years // Children Photography

My favorite little man, Jude, is now two years old! See how much he has grown in the last year from his one year birthday photos. Jude now has so much personality and is talking more and more each day. It is so much fun to watch him grow up. His mom planned the perfect boy photo shoot – tractors, dirt and farm animals. Can it get any cuter than that? Seriously. Adorable. Happy birthday Jude!

Amanda & Darren // Wedding Photography

Happy first anniversary to Amanda and Darren! Their wedding was the Saturday after all the huge storms in the Twin Cities last year when the power went out for three days in some areas – remember that? When I showed up at the church the morning of their wedding, I was’t even sure if the church was going to have power. Thankfully it did. Not only for the sound system and lights to work during the ceremony, but for the air conditioner – it was HOT outside. Amanda, Darren, and myself would run and do photos outside quick and then run back in to cool down and kept doing this until we got all the photos we wanted. Amanda and Darren were so calm despite the storms and the heat. You didn’t have to be around them long before you knew that their soon-to-be other half was all that they were focusing on that day. The two compliment each other so well and they are full of life and love. The pink bridesmaids dresses, gray tuxes and Amanda’s birdcage veil were a perfect combination for a vintage inspired wedding. Happy Anniversary Darren and Amanda, I hope this is the first of many, many more to to come!
