Greg & Megan // Proposal

My heart swells with joy and happiness when thinking about this couple – Greg and Megan. For Greg is my brother, and as you will see, Megan is someone near and dear to his heart. When going into this surprise session, my own heart was pounding out of my chest, I could hardly breath and my head was in the clouds with anticipation and excitement. Phil and myself were hiding behind trees and bushes at the Lyndale Park Rose Gardens with our cameras and witnessed a love story unfold in front of our eyes. Greg had planned a special evening for Megan which included a picnic in the park, a walk around Lake Harriet and a once in a lifetime question asked at the Rose Gardens which Megan said YES to! I could not be any more happy for them. After they basked in their love for a little while, Phil and I came out from our hiding spaces and Greg pointed us out, a detail that Megan was totally surprised by. We celebrated with them and took more pictures to capture this truly special and beautiful moment in their lives – the beginning of a wonderful journey together. My little brother is grown up and I am so proud of who he has become and I cannot explain how excited I am for Megan to be joining our family. Congratulations Greg and Megan. We love you both so much!

Jude 2 Years // Children Photography

My favorite little man, Jude, is now two years old! See how much he has grown in the last year from his one year birthday photos. Jude now has so much personality and is talking more and more each day. It is so much fun to watch him grow up. His mom planned the perfect boy photo shoot – tractors, dirt and farm animals. Can it get any cuter than that? Seriously. Adorable. Happy birthday Jude!

Amanda & Darren // Wedding Photography

Happy first anniversary to Amanda and Darren! Their wedding was the Saturday after all the huge storms in the Twin Cities last year when the power went out for three days in some areas – remember that? When I showed up at the church the morning of their wedding, I was’t even sure if the church was going to have power. Thankfully it did. Not only for the sound system and lights to work during the ceremony, but for the air conditioner – it was HOT outside. Amanda, Darren, and myself would run and do photos outside quick and then run back in to cool down and kept doing this until we got all the photos we wanted. Amanda and Darren were so calm despite the storms and the heat. You didn’t have to be around them long before you knew that their soon-to-be other half was all that they were focusing on that day. The two compliment each other so well and they are full of life and love. The pink bridesmaids dresses, gray tuxes and Amanda’s birdcage veil were a perfect combination for a vintage inspired wedding. Happy Anniversary Darren and Amanda, I hope this is the first of many, many more to to come!

Nic & Tamara // Engagement Photography

I met Nic almost 8 years ago when we worked at the same camp during the summer. We became instant friends. Nic was still in high school at the time and I was in college. Over the years we have been able to maintain a great friendship even though we live miles apart and only see each other about once a year. We kept in contact as we both went through big milestones in our lives – graduations, jobs and even marriage. I remember receiving a phone call from Nic a few years ago when he said he started hanging out more with a girl named Tamara. He told me how beautiful she was and how he really wanted to get to know her more. I found out later that they had started dating. I heard bits and pieces about their relationship as it started to grow closer and stronger. I then started receiving the phone calls from Nic saying that there was talk of marriage. Soon after he was looking for a ring. And asking her dad’s permission. The phone call finally came before Christmas saying that they had made it official and they are getting married!

Nic was there when I started dating my now husband and blessed us by being an usher at our wedding three years ago.  Now I have the privileged and the honor to be the photographer at his wedding in August.

Nic and Tamara traveled from Duluth to Hudson for an engagement session last week. I had only met Tamara twice before this and one of the times was by pure chance (running into each other at the MN State Fair of all places!). Tamara is one of the sweetest and nicest people you could ever hope to meet. Nic and Tamara are the cutest couple and I am convinced together they will make a huge difference in this world for a number of people and families.

Congratulation Nic and Tamara!  I cannot wait to celebrate with you in August.

Hudson Hot Air Affair 2014

The Hudson Hot Air Affair is by far my favorite event in Hudson. I had been looking forward to this day since last years launch. If you don’t remember last years launch, you can check it out here.  40 hot air balloons launch from one field and it is simply spectacular to watch. There is something about these HUGE balloons, the bright beautiful colors and massive flames that really get me excited. As expected for this winter, it was cold, overcast and slightly snowing, but I loved every minute of it! Maybe someday I will be able to go up in one of the balloons.

Hudson’s Deep Freeze

Everyone knows it’s been a tough, cold, long winter and we all want summer to come, like yesterday. Instead of being upset about the things we cannot change, I have decided to photograph it. You do have to admit, it is pretty. These shots were taken at both Birkmose and Prospect Park in Hudson. I love the white tree tops and the steam rising from the St. Croix River. I am thankful for a home that keeps me warm and will continue to count my blessings as we all wait for spring to arrive.

Saly & Misha // Wedding Photography

The Stillwater Historic Courthouse was the perfect backdrop for the gorgeous couple, Saly and Misha. The details of their wedding made me gush. An old car, the champagne colored bridesmaids dresses, Saly’s beautiful jewelry, and the red carpet lined with rose pedals and lanterns were just a few of the wonderful details that really made this wedding elegant and charming. Saly and Misha had a outdoor ceremony at dusk and then the party continued inside with a delicious five course meal (catered by Afro Deli),  traditional exchanging of the rings and lots of dancing. Your wedding was an evening to remember! Best wishes Misha and Saly.

Angie & Will // Wedding Photography

Weddings like Will and Angie’s make me wish that American weddings lasted longer than a day. I could have easily had a good time with this couple and their friends and family for a full week. Everyone was so nice and love and laughter filled the room at Edinburgh in Brooklyn Park, MN. Angie was able to take everything beautiful about fall and bring it indoors for their decorations. It was the best fall themed wedding I have been to so far. Congratulations Angie and Will! Thanks for letting me be apart of your day.
