White Bear Lake, MN // Family Portraits

On occasion I will photograph family portraits, and then wonder why I don’t do it more often because I had so much fun working with Kalia, her husband and her family. Beautiful people, inside and out. We had the perfect summer evening and beautiful locations in Washington Square Park in White Bear Lake.

Mark & Stephanie // Eco-Friendly Wedding at Double R Farms in Osceola, WI

Stephanie is apart of a company called Trades of Hope. The mission of the company is to empower women by teaching them artistic trades and have compassionate entrepreneurs, like Stephanie, sell their fair trade jewelry, home decor and other accessories. This helps women get out of working in sweatshops, be subject to human trafficking, abusive situations and poverty. So it was a no surprise when Stephanie also planned an eco-friendly, fair-trade, local business based wedding in Osceola, WI. Every vendor, from her shoes to her florist, came from a company that supplied local, sustainable or repurposed products and services. (See vendor list below for specifics).

Stephanie and Mark met through mutual friends and since their first date, where they went bowling, they have been adventuring in the great outdoors (including a kayaking trip where Mark proposed) and sharing in life together. Their wedding ceremony was set to be outside overlooking a corn field and pasture at Double R Farms in Osceola, but mother nature had it’s own plans for the day. The wind was fierce all morning and the air stifling hot and humid. At the last minute they moved the ceremony inside the barn, which was a great call for as soon as Stephanie’s dads were walking her down the aisle, a huge clap of thunder sounded and rain came down in sheets. By the end of the ceremony the storm had passed, cooling the air and making way for beautiful clouds and sunset which we took full advantage of for photos.

Congratulations Mark and Stephanie. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to share in your day! Enjoy your photos. :D

Abby & Lucas // Ironwood, MI Summer Wedding

This couple picked the best day to get married in my opinion. June 18th. I may be slightly biased though. Phil and I were married on June 18th five years ago. Best five years of my life so far! We celebrated our marriage by documenting these two lovebirds make lifelong commitments to each other. Abby and Lucas met in 2012 and over the years they were friends, coworkers, significant others and now husband and wife. On their wedding day we were able to photograph in locations that were meaningful to them. We did their first look at the location where Lucas proposed and we stopped by a few places in town where they had their first date and liked to hang out. It was a beautiful day full of love, family and friends. Oh, and does Abby look familiar to anyone? Could be because you’ve seen her three times before on my blog. She is the younger sister to Rachel, Hannah and Naomi. I have had the privilege and honor of photographing all four of these beautiful girls weddings. Congratulations Abby and Lucas!01_RusticBrideGroom

Britta & Kyle // Intimate Backyard Wedding Hudson, WI

He owns a tattoo shop in Eau Claire. She is a physical therapist in the cities. Their paths crossed when a mutual friend introduced them. After Kyle and Britta had been together for a few years they decided on forever. Along with their families and a few of their closest friends, they tied the knot under a tree in their own backyard in Hudson, WI. They planned the perfect casual celebration, including their three dogs, dart art, custom sneakers and delicious food prepared by Britta’s brother-in-law. They are two of the most incredible people you could ever meet. Andrea & Jonathan // Oak Glen Golf Course Stillwater Wedding

I first met Andrea and Jonathan at a Caribou where we instantly hit it off. We talked as though we were long lost friends finally reunited. They told me the story of how they met, and how Jonathan proposed. We talked in length about their wedding details and found many similar personality traits between Andrea and myself. I hugged her at the end of our meeting as I would a dear friend, even though I has just met her two hours before.

So it was a great joy and privilege to witness Andrea and Jonathan as they wed at the beautiful Oak Glen Golf Course in Stillwater, MN. Between a few rain showers we were able to capture their love for one another and document two beautiful people make a life long commitment. Andrea was radiant all day long. Her smile said all that I’m sure she was feeling inside. She simply beamed. All of Jonathan’s wedding day anxieties melted away the moment he saw his beautiful bride and with much love and admiration he genuinely praised and complimented Andrea all day long.

Thank you Andrea and Jonathan for the opportunity to work with you and your wonderful families and friends. With our hearts full of joy for the two of you, we wish you many years of love and happiness. Congratulations.

Sam & Naomi // Wedding Photography

Naomi’s older sister Hannah, introduced Naomi to Sam at Fort Wilderness Camp in 2013 where they were all working for the summer. Because Sam already knew Hannah and some stories of Hannah’s family,  Naomi recalls the first thing Sam ever said to her was “Hi Naomi! So I hear you like poop.” Now, though I don’t know the context of this, and nor do I think I really want to, it was the start of a beautiful love story between Naomi and Sam. Over the years their relationship evolved and deepened. They dated long distance for awhile before Naomi decided to move to Iowa to be closer to Sam. Their wedding took place on a beautiful spring day, where though it was muddy, the sun was warm and their faces shown bright with love for each other and for the Lord. Congratulations Sam and Naomi!

Laura // Eau Claire Senior Portraits

I am a little behind in posting these images from back in October when I went to Eau Claire to photograph Laura’s senior portraits. She wanted fall colors in her photos, but she did not want to have her brace on from her ACL surgery a month prior. She was a trooper as we ventured to a few different locations throughout Eau Claire to capture to beautiful afternoon light. We ended the session with a few quick soccer shots like we had done with her older sister, Anna’s session. Isn’t Laura just gorgeous? And she can pull of the serious look so well. Natural beauty. I hope you are continuing to recover well and that you have a fantastic senior year Laura. It was a joy working with you!HudsonSeniorPortraits_Laura1HudsonSeniorPortraits_Laura2HudsonSeniorPortraits_Laura3HudsonSeniorPortraits_Laura4HudsonSeniorPortraits_Laura5HudsonSeniorPortraits_Laura6HudsonSeniorPortraits_Laura7

Joe & Amanda // Virginia Wedding Photography

To quote Amanda, “We’ve been friends since flip phones.” We met freshman year in college when we lived on the same floor in the dorms. We became fast friends and went on to being teammates on the swim team and having a lot of crazy great adventures together. After two years I transferred schools and then Amanda moved to a couple different states after graduating. She’s one of those friends that you can talk to once or twice a year and it feels like no time has past, so when she called to tell me she was engaged, I was truly thrilled for her. When she asked me to photograph her wedding I was even more excited. The wedding was in Virginia so Phil and I flew out there for the wedding and took an extra few days and made it a little mini vacation for ourselves as well. We met Joe for the first time on Saturday and could tell instantly that he made Amanda happy and they were a great pair together. Saturday started off rainy but stopped just in time for outdoor portraits. The ceremony and reception were at the Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket which was an ideal setting for a fall wedding. Everything about the day was beautiful. Congratulations to Amanda and her new husband Joe! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and love together.

Jackson // Newborn Photography

I cannot get enough of this cute little family of four with adorable newborn Jackson. This family welcomed me into their home on an overcast drizzly morning just five days after Jackson made his appearance into this world. This family has beautiful hearts, smiles and (nerd alert) window light in their house (I mean, com’on! Not every house has beautiful light that allows for the entire session to look stunning in black and white). Older brother Emmett was so gentle and loving to his little brother. This family is truly precious and it was a blessing to share and document this stage in all of their lives.

Fall Mini Sessions // Birkmose Park Hudson WI

It’s hard to believe, but it’s that time of year again! Fall mini sessions will be offered this year on Saturday October 10, 2015 at Birkmose Park in Hudson, WI. I’ve added 10 extra minutes to the session length from last year and kept the 5 digital images (with print release!) and 10% off prints and products the same. These sessions are a great and easy opportunity to capture images for your holiday cards, to give as gifts during the holiday season or simply to finally get an updated family portrait that you’ve been putting off for a few years now. All families, couples and even high school seniors are welcomed. Sessions will be booked during the morning and late afternoon hours on October 10th. Contact Kelly with morning or afternoon preference to figure out time slots available. Contact me today with any questions or to reserve your spot. Times fill up quickly so don’t delay.

FallMiniSession2015

The $99 (+tax) session fee will be due at the time of the session. Rescheduling due to rain will be figured out on a one to one basis with Kelly.
